PLYMOUTH – The Plymouth Police Department, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning at a sweepstakes gaming establishment commonly known as the “Gameroom,” located at 1220 U.S. Highway 64 West in Plymouth.

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, at approximately 3:57 a.m., Washington County Communications received a 911 call reporting that a man had been found inside the establishment, apparently deceased, according to PPD.

An officer with the Plymouth Police Department responded to the location, along with deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, who assisted with the initial response. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject inside the establishment who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was found deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Sakhr Radwan Taher Maswarah, according to PPD. His next of kin has been notified.

Agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and are actively assisting the Plymouth Police Department with the homicide investigation.

The Plymouth Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity, observed unfamiliar vehicles or individuals in the area, or has surveillance footage from the vicinity of 1220 U.S. Highway 64 West during the late evening hours of Saturday, October 10, or the early morning hours of Sunday, October 11, to contact investigators.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and when doing so will not compromise investigative efforts.
