EDENTON — Edenton police have identified a suspect and issued warrants in connection with a shooting that left one person hospitalized Wednesday evening.
Detectives identified Lonnie Wilson (pictured), of Edenton, as the individual allegedly responsible for the shooting, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Dillard Street and Paradise Road, according to an Edenton Police Department press release.
Wilson faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill-inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharging a firearm within city limits.
As of the release Thursday evening around 10 p.m. or so, Wilson had not been taken into custody. Police described him as armed and dangerous and urged the public not to approach him if spotted.
The victim remains hospitalized and is recovering from injuries sustained in the shooting, police said.
