AHOSKIE – Ahoskie Police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday at a local business.

According to a press release, officers were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9, 2025, to Ahoskie Tobacco House, 102 S. Catherine Creek Road, Ahoskie, in reference to a shooting.

Two people were injured. First-responders took them to the local hospital for treatment. One individual was later taken to a level one trauma facility for further treatment.

This case is actively being investigated. Ahoskie Police said they will provide an update when further information can be released.

Perquimans County Sheriff’s Office

For the week of Oct. 31 through Nov. 6, 2025

James Haney, of Warren Taylor Road, Richlands, was arrested Oct. 31, 2025, on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana 1/2 ounce, carrying a concealed handgun, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A secured bond of $15,000 was set.

Ramon Garcia Dominguez, of Meads Circle, Hertford, was arrested on Nov. 1, 2025, on a charge of driving while intoxicated. A secured bond of $1,000 was set.

Daviyona Gilliam, of Shephard Street, Elizabeth City, was arrested on Nov. 2, 2025, on charges of felony speeding to elude arrest, two counts of resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer, driving while license revoked, not impaired, child abuse and aggressive driving. A secured bond of $12,500 was set. She also faces a charge of failure to appear.

Stephen Smithson, of White Street, Winfall, was arrested Nov. 6, 2025, of hit and run. An unsecured bond of $500 was set.

Tyquris Cofield, of Greenleaf Street, Elizabeth City, was arrested on Nov. 6, 2025, on a charge of assault on a female. An unsecured bond of $2,000 was set.


All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
