HERTFORD — The Town of Hertford is pleased to announce the hiring of Bridgette Packer as the new Director of the Hertford Main Street Program.

Packer brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate retail, leadership, and design.

She has held key positions with nationally recognized companies, including serving as Communications and Interior Design Manager for IKEA stores in Charlotte and worked in the Philadelphia headquarters where she managed large-scale projects and innovative design strategies. Most recently, she worked as Senior Visual Merchandise Manager for Kirkland’s stores, overseeing brand presentation and customer engagement.

In addition to her corporate career, Packer is also a small business owner, bringing firsthand knowledge of entrepreneurship to her new role. Her combined experience in retail, communications, design, and business ownership uniquely positions her to guide Hertford’s downtown revitalization efforts, strengthen local businesses, and foster economic growth through the Main Street Program.

“We are excited to welcome Bridgette to the Town of Hertford,” said Doris Walton, town manager of Hertford. “Her wealth of experience and creative vision will be an asset to our downtown and to the entire community as we continue to grow and revitalize our Main Street.”

Packer fell in love with Hertford during a trip two years ago and decided to make it home.

“After a career in retail, spent traveling and living all over the United States, it feels good to settle into a town that reminds me of my hometown – small, welcoming, and full of potential,” Packer said. “As the new director of the Main Street Program, I’m eager to use my design and retail experience to support our community’s growth. Hertford isn’t just a place I live; it’s a place I’m committed to helping thrive.”

Packer officially began her role as Main Street Director on September 11, 2025.
