COLUMBIA — What caused Monday’s power outage that affected folks in Tyrrell and Hyde counties?
Was the power outage caused by a squirrel fighting with an alligator over what is the best-tasting North Carolina barbecue when they knocked over a utility pole? No.
Answer – Eastern NC’s vinegar-based barbecue is the best.
Cherise M. Newsome, Senior Communications Specialist/Media Relations for Dominion Energy, offered a better, simpler explanation — crossbeam failure — as to why 287 customers lost power around 3:30 p.m. Monday. She said a crossbeam is the horizontal beam at the top of power poles that helps hold up power lines.
Power was restored to all customers around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
