STAFF REPORT
Law enforcement is seeking the public’s help in locating two juveniles who allegedly attacked an individual who was assigned to watch over them at the Methodist Home for Children in Edenton and stole his vehicle, according to law enforcement.
According to Chowan County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy John McArthur, the vehicle, a 2020 Ford Escape, was recovered Wednesday in Rocky Mount through teamwork with other law enforcement agencies. The juveniles are still at large.
A firearm had been stored in the vehicle was reported stolen. McArthur said the weapon was not found when the vehicle was recovered.
McArthur said, due to the sensitive nature of a juvenile being involved in the incident, a description of the suspects was not available at press time. The information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
The Methodist Home of Children is located on Substation Road in Edenton. The agency works with the NC Department of Correction to serve repeat juvenile offenders who are at risk of being placed in a detention or youth development center – or who are leaving a residential placement but cannot live safely at home, according to the agency’s website.
