Join Distinguished NCSU Professor and Extension Specialist Grady Miller, Turfgrass Extension Associate Ray McCauley, and Area Horticulture Agent Gene Fox for the 2025 Turf & Ornamentals Update.

Schedule:
- Turfgrass Culture and Pest Management
1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to use IPM for pest prevention and management. - Pests of Warm Season Turfgrasses and Their Control
2:35 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Attendees will leave with a firm understanding of turfgrass disease and weed identification and control. - Integrated Pest Management in Landscape Ornamentals – When to Use a Pesticide
4:05 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Leave with a better understanding of cultural practices, treatment thresholds, treatment timing for pests and weeds, and chemical control information.

New Positions Coming to Camden Extension!
We’re excited to announce the upcoming addition of two new positions to our Extension office team, aimed at expanding the services we provide to our community. One position is a Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, dedicated to Camden County, with a focus on health and nutrition programming and food demonstrations. The second position is a 4-H Program Assistant Life Skills Coach, dedicated to supporting at-risk youth through programming that fosters personal growth and resilience. These roles are part of our ongoing commitment to enriching lives and building a healthier, stronger community.

State 4-H Camp
Join us for a week at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC this summer. We have spaces for the following: 2 Females-Ages 8-12, 1 Male-8-12, 1 Male-13-14 and 1 Female-15-18 (this is a Leader In Training spot).
We will be camping June 15-20. Contact our office for information or to pay a deposit.
2025 Albemarle Area 4-H Livestock Show & Sale
The 2025 Albemarle Area 4-H Livestock Show and Sale will take place April 29-30. Anyone wishing to participate should register online at: go.ncsu.edu/2025registration no later than Feb. 28. If you need helping securing an animal, please contact our office.
Outdoor Adventures
Get ready for Outdoor Adventures with 4-H! These programs are free of charge and open to youth ages 8-16!
- February 17th 4:30-5:30 p.m. — Make bird feeders and a birdhouse at Cornerstone Baptist Church (located 145 U.S. Hwy 158 W, Camden, NC (next to Old Hwy 34 grill)
- March 17th 4:30-5:30 p.m. — Make a constellation key chain and star finder at Cornerstone Baptist Church
- April 17th Kayaking 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Treasure Point (weather permitting)

Chowan County
Scholarship Opportunity
The Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Chowan, Gates and Perquimans counties are pleased to offer the Katherine G. Shook Master Gardener Scholarship to graduating students in Chowan, Gates and Perquimans counties. This scholarship will be awarded in the Spring of 2025 to assist students who are planning to study in a qualifying field. Sweet Potato Meetings
Please join us for one of two Regional Sweet Potato Production Meetings. One will be held Feb. 25 at the Nash County Agriculture Center, 1006 Eastern Ave., Nashville, NC 27856.
