EDENTON — Twenty-five years later, we remember.
The Edenton Tea Party Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in partnership with American Legion Posts 40, 126, and 362, will gather at Veterans Memorial Park in Edenton on Friday, September 11, at 10 a.m. for a special ceremony honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
As part of the remembrance, 343 American flags will be displayed at Veterans Memorial Park, one for each of the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives while answering the call to serve others.
The field of flags will serve as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those firefighters and of all the first responders who ran toward danger that day. We will also remember the thousands of innocent lives lost on September 11 and the countless families and communities forever changed by the events of that day.
The ceremony will offer our community an opportunity to pause, reflect, and express our gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice and for the first responders who continue to answer the call each day.
We invite the community to join us as we gather in remembrance, gratitude, and hope. Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.
