Anna Kallas tendered her resignation as Region Director for the Pettigrew Regional Library System on Thursday morning.

Well… not sure what to say to this very sudden announcement.

Kallas sent this email out to Trustee members:

Effective immediately, I’m resigning from my position as Regional Director.  I have returned all regional property to the regional offices and gave it to Faith Noell. My Shepard-Pruden keys, which are the only thing that I have for Shepard-Pruden, will be given to Erica Newman.

For folks who are keeping score – let’s recap.

Nate King announced his resignation as regional director in May at the Regional Library Board of Directors meeting in Edenton, with his final day being Friday, July 31.

Kallas, who had led Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library through an eight-month tenure that reshaped the system, was named his successor. She resigned as Chowan County librarian effective July 6, worked her last day in that role July 31, and started as regional director this past Monday.

Right now, as of Thursday, we’re down a regional librarian and a librarian to manage Shepard-Pruden.

No comment from Kallas – prayers for her.

I hope this situation works itself out.

I’m sure there’s more to the story – always is.

This story is still developing, so as I know something more, I’ll let you know.
