At 1:51 p.m. June 6, 2026, Edenton Police responded to a residence on the 900 block Johnston Street, to a report of a hit and run.
According to the incident report, a 2023 Chevrolet Express van driven by Rudi Avilio Lucas Escobeol, 41, of Johnston Street, Edenton, wrecked, knocking utility poles over, and fled the scene. A home on Johnson Street was damaged when one of the utility poles fell on it due to the wreck. A GMC Yukon was also hit. A utility pole was knocked down the ground due to the wreck. Alcohol was believed to be involved.
Escobeol was charged with hit and run, leaving the scene of property damage; injury to real property and injury to personal property, all misdemeanors.
At 4:10 p.m. June 10, 2026, Edenton Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Tyler Lane and Oakdale Drive. During the stop, officers found marijuana and a Taurus G2C 9-millimeter handgun in the vehicle.
Zynykkus Rashawn White, 22, of US 158, Littleton, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed gun and possession of up to ½ ounces of marijuana, both misdemeanors.
At 8:24 a.m. June 6, 2026, Edenton Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Virginia Road and North Granville Street. According to the report, Brian Campbell, 36, of New Lands Road, Fairfield, gave fictitious information to an officer, possessed drug paraphernalia and possessed cocaine. During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found about 30 used needles, a white bottle cap and white cotton with a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine and metal smoking pipes with residue inside.
Campbell was charged with possession of cocaine, a felony; possession of drug paraphernalia and giving fictitious information to an officer, both misdemeanors. No bond was set. He was confined to the Chowan County Detention Center.
At 7:40 p.m. June 4, 2026, Edenton Police responded to a report at the intersection of East Church and North Oakum streets that someone had damaged the wires inside the Fybe box nearby.
At 8:58 p.m. June 3, 2026, Edenton Police conducted a traffic stop near the 200-block of Queen Street. Eudiel Figueroa Perez, 34, of Virginia Road, Edenton, was charged with driving while impaired. A secured bond of $2,000 was set. Perez was confined to the Chowan County Detention Center.
Perquimans County Sheriff’s Office
Gary Farmer, of Brook Lane, Concord, Virginia, was arrested on June 8, 2026, on a charge of resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer. A $1,000 secured bond was set.
Yolanda Dunbar, of Dobbs Street, Hertford, was arrested on June 9, 2026, on a charge of possession of stolen goods. Dunbar was placed in a 48-hour hold.
Caitlin Bess, of Burnt Mill Road, Edenton, was arrested on June 9, 2026, on charges of simple assault, misdemeanor child abuse and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. Bess was placed in a 48-hour hold.
James Renshaw, of New Hope Road, Hertford, was arrested on June 9, 2026, on a warrant for disorderly conduct.
Maria Lopez, of West Grubb Street, Hertford, was arrested on June 9, 2026, on a charge of driving while license revoked, not impaired revocation. A $260 secured bond was set.
Sean Revels, of Camp Perry Road, Hertford, was arrested on June 11, 2026, on charges of obtaining property through false pretenses, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and motor vehicle theft.
