UPDATED — Per Edenton-Chowan Schools, John A. Holmes High School’s students and staff were dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, due to a construction-related issue—a reported gas leak. Folks got all the clear signal a few hours later, near 4 p.m., so there will be school on Wednesday.

FLASHBACK to Tuesday morning — Since I just left the school moments ago, around 12:30 p.m., everything appears to be OK – school is being dismissed out of an abundance of caution. The Edenton Fire Department is on scene, but not stressing.

Because of the early dismissal, many Aces left the building with smiles on their faces.  And praise God, it is a sunny day – early dismissal almost feels like a snow day.

Sporting events are being relocated — contact coaches for further information.
