EDENTON — Work on the Court Street parking deck is progressing on schedule, with the ground-level phase expected to wrap up by mid-July, according to Town Manager Corey Gooden.
The project broke ground in November on the large municipal lot behind the town’s main business district. Along with a multi-story parking deck, the development will include six affordable apartments. The full project is expected to take roughly 18 months to complete.
The current phase covers utility work — including water, sewer, stormwater, electric, and telecommunications improvements. Gooden said roadway and utility disruptions are expected to return to normal shortly before the mid-July milestone, ahead of vertical deck construction beginning.

And I’ll say it — when walking the dog or strolling back home from my evening walk, walking around or through this site is a pain in the butt. Moreover, where all that construction stuff is now stored on Court Street, there is/was a pretty field where my kids played, and I mowed it with pride because it was our family’s small part in making Edenton a great place to live.
