A homeless Plymouth man fought with another Plymouth man while at the Chowan County Detention Center on Feb. 5, 2026, according to an incident report from the Edenton Police Department.
According to the report, Henry Lee Gordon, 37, a person experiencing homelessness who lives in Plymouth, attacked Azzan Jeus Braxton, 33, of Main Street, Plymouth. Gordon also allegedly attacked Edenton Police Officer A. Wynn.
Gordon was facing charges of simple assault, assault on a government official and resisting an officer.
In other news, Dorien Isaiah Melton, 20, of Sugar Run Road, Sunbury, was arrested on Feb. 13, 2026, on drug charges. According to the incident report, at 5:20 p.m. Feb. 13, 2026, Edenton Police conducted a traffic stop on Claire Drive. During a search of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350 driven by Melton, officers found 37 grams of marijuana worth $150, drug/narcotic equipment and a black metal tray with green residue and half of a smoked blunt. Melton was charged with possession of up to 0.5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
At 12:40 p.m. Feb. 6, 2026, Edenton Police arrested Daryl Barcliff, 39, of Carteret Street, Edenton, on a charge of second-degree trespass, a misdemeanor. According to the incident report, officers responded at 12:37 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2026, to the Edenton Housing Authority, Walker Street, Edenton, regarding a trespassing report. A $1,000, unsecured bond was set.
At 11:48 p.m. Feb. 5, 2026, Shanita Shanae Simpson, 35, of US Highway 17, Merry Hill, was arrested on Albemarle Street, Edenton, and charged with simple assault/affray, a misdemeanor. A $2,500, unsecured bond was set.
At 12:33 p.m. Feb. 7, 2026, Edenton Police responded to an incident on East Gale Street, Edenton. Quamari Armex Williams, 25, of Lynnhaven Drive, Edenton, was accused of possession of firearms by a felon, carrying concealed weapons and resisting an officer.
At 5:12 p.m. Feb. 7, 2026, Edenton Police responded to a report of assault on a government official (Edenton Police officer) on East Gale Street. The suspect is a 17-year-old Edenton resident.
At 3:59 p.m. Feb. 8, Edenton Police stopped Isaiah Ja’Shun Leary, 26, of Merry Hill, on Oakum Street, Edenton. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon without being in possession of his concealed carry permit.
At 9:04 a.m. Feb. 11, 2026, Edenton Police conducted a traffic stop of a 2023 Audi A4 being driven by Thomas Marcus Wilsin, of Freemason Street, Edenton, on Broad Street in Edenton. Police seized a handgun, a magazine and eight 40-caliber live rounds. Wilsin was charged with having an insurance violation and being in violation of his concealed carry permit.
At 9:28 a.m. Feb. 15, 2026, Edenton Police responded to a report for a suspect taking a bag of chips, a cinnamon roll and consumable goods without paying for them from the Duck Thru Gas Station, on Virginia Road, Edenton.
At 6:38 p.m. Feb. 16, 2026, Edenton Police responded to a report of a suspect taking a vape worth $100 without paying from the Edenton Mini Mart on Broad Street, Edenton.
Perquimans County Sheriff’s Office
Travis Searcy, of Discovery Trail, Hertford, was arrested on Feb. 13, 2026, on a charge of burglary/breaking and entering. No bond was set. Searcy was placed in a 48-hour hold.
Charles Oney, of Trailblazer Arch, Hertford, was arrested on Feb. 14, 2026, on a charge of assault by point a bun. A $10,000 unsecured bond was set.
Daniel Talkington, of Don Juan Road, Hertford, was arrested on Feb. 14, 2026, on charges of communicating threats and the crime of domestic violence. No bond was set. Talkington was placed on a 48-hour hold.
Jennifer Britt, of Belvidere Road, Hertford, was arrested on Feb. 16, 2026, on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. A $5,000 secured bond was set.
Jermaine Spence, of Glade Road, Elizabeth City, was arrested on Feb. 17, 2026, on charges of driving while impaired and possession of an open container. An $8,000 secured bond was set.
