SWAN QUARTER — The Hyde County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of two individuals following an investigation into the neglect and death of a disabled/elderly person in Hyde County.
According to the sheriff’s office, the arrests were made after investigators determined that criminal charges were warranted in connection with the case. Authorities have identified the individuals as Tammy Williams and Peter Yankoeski.
Williams has been charged with Neglect of a Disabled/Elderly Adult Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury, as well as Concealment of Death and Failure to Report a Death. She is currently being held at the Dare County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
Yankoeski has been charged with Concealment of Death and Failure to Report a Death. He is also being held at the Dare County Detention Center, where he is being held under a $10,000 secured bond.
The sheriff’s office stated that the charges stem from an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the neglect and subsequent death of a disabled or elderly individual. No additional details about the victim or the timeline of events have been released at this time.
Officials emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing. As investigators continue to review evidence and gather additional information, further charges could be filed.
