COLUMBIA — A month-long investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a Columbia vape store Thursday afternoon, resulting in the seizure of illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and thousands of dollars in cash.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 31, law enforcement officials from the United States State Department, in coordination with the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office, raided Stop n’ Shop Columbia LLC, located at 80 La Keiser Drive.

The search uncovered a large quantity of controlled substances and other contraband. According to authorities, officers confiscated more than 3.6 pounds of marijuana, over 400 grams of mushroom-infused gummies, multiple inhalants, and a wide assortment of drug paraphernalia. Approximately $6,000 in cash was also seized during the operation.

Officials say the warrant was obtained following a month-long investigation into the store’s operations. While the initial focus of the search was related to potential Trademark Compliance violations, the investigation quickly expanded when officers discovered narcotics and other illegal substances on the premises.

“The presence of illegal drugs and paraphernalia was clearly established inside the business,” officials noted in an incident summary. “This was not just a case of trademark issues. There were serious public safety concerns.”

Authorities did not specify whether any arrests were made during the operation, but they confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

The Stop n’ Shop vape store is located in a commercial area of Columbia and had been under suspicion for several weeks prior to the search. The seizure of controlled substances from a retail location has raised concerns among residents and officials alike, particularly regarding the accessibility of illegal products through local businesses.

Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office and federal officials are continuing to gather evidence and interview individuals connected to the store.

“This case underscores the importance of joint agency cooperation in protecting our communities,” a spokesperson said. “We are committed to thoroughly investigating and pursuing all violations of the law.”

No further details were immediately released, but officials say updates will be provided as the investigation develops.
