Found out yesterday that Naomi Bonner White, formerly a beloved Assistant Librarian at Shepard-Pruden for about 25 years, passed away on Thursday, July 17. She also had served as a member of the SPML Board of Trustees.

“She was a wonderful co-worker. Naomi was the backbone of the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library during her tenure,” said Jennifer Finlay, a revered former county Librarian at SPML.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Hertford. Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home of Edenton.

Her brother, Greg Bonner, was Edenton Police Chief and a county commissioner.

After I receive an obituary, I’ll provide more information about Naomi’s life.

Speaking of the obituary report, I’ll be putting that together over the weekend. We’ve had so many deaths in recent months, many familiar faces, that I’ve just not been inspired to write the weekly obituary report.

Rest in peace, Naomi.
