Edenton Police arrested Stephanie Chappell , 44, of Ocean Highway of Hertford, at 7:44 a.m. June 13. She was charged with a felony count of embezzlement of property received by virtue of office or employment.
According to the incident report, Chappell was employed and the UPS facility in Edenton. Chappell allegedly stole the contents of a package – an Anthropologie dress worth $120 that was to be delivered to a New Bern address.
An unsecured bond of $20,000 was set.
In other news, police were involved in a chase of a stolen vehicle on June 14.
Officers responded to a report at 1:30 p.m. June 14 of a suspected larceny of a motor vehicle. According to the report, a 2006 Honda Pilot was taken from a residence on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. without the owner’s permission.
The vehicle was spotted later in the day, at 9:38 p.m. Officers chased the vehicle on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The suspect is accused of not stopping for law enforcement and going through a stop sign and a stop light. The suspect faces charges of stop light violation, stop sign violation, carless and reckless driving, and failure to heed blue lights and siren. The suspect’s name was not give on the report, nor did the report say whether police were able to stop the vehicle.
Edenton Police arrested Kenna Brown, 41, of Chowan Court in Edenton, on misdemeanor charges of assault on a female and communicating threats. Brown was confined to the Chowan County Jail with no bond.
In other matters, Tyvon Lee Beasley, of Poplar Neck Road, Edenton, was arrested on June 29 and charged with misdemeanor charges of larceny and assault on a female. He was held without bond at the Chowan County Jail.
On June 26, Edenton Police responded to a report of a bicycle being taken without permission at Hicks Field, 500 Woodard St., Edenton. The bike, a Huffy Beach Cruise, was valued at $400.
Edenton Police responded to a report on June 16 that the identity of an Edenton resident was being used by an unknown person to obtain a student loan.
On June 28, Edenton Police responded to a report that a headstone had been knocked over at Beaver Hill Cemetery, causing $3,000 in damages.
On June 20, Edenton police arrested and charged Christina Williams, of Yeopim Road, Edenton, during a traffic stop on Coke Avenue. She faces charges of possession of cocaine (felony), possession of a schedule II substance (felony) and two charges of failure to appear (misdemeanor). A secured bond of $110,000 was set.
Edenton Police arrested Durell Welch, 34, of Carteret Street in Edenton on misdemeanor charges of driving while license revoked and expired registration at 12:58 p.m. June 12 near the intersection of Virginia Road and Luke Street. A secured bond of $1,000 was set.
At 7:20 p.m. June 4, Edenton Police responded to a hit and run at Earnhardt Field, 1366 N. Broad St. According to the report, Mechelle Anthony, 57, of Pruden Street, reported that her 2010 Honda Accord was hit around 6 p.m., but the suspect didn’t report it.
At 9:40 a.m. June 1, Edenton Police responded to the report of a breaking and entering of a 2003 Chevrolet C-1500 on Gale Street. The incident caused approximately $5,000 in damage.
At 12:33 p.m. May 30, Edenton Police responded to a report of second-degree arson at Waterford Apartments, Chowan Court, Edenton, when a box of paper was lit on a resident’s stove.
at 12:33 p.m. May 31, Edenton Police responded to a report of injury to personal property on Granville Street. According to the report, James Lowder, 82, of Granville Street, reported that the window to his 2000 Dodge Dakota was broken by an unknown individual. The incident caused an estimate $300 in damage.
At 5:10 p.m. May 26, Edenton Police arrested Daniel Alfonza Hurdle Jr., 34, of Walker Drive, Edenton, and charged him with possession of a stolen firearm and resisting an officer.
at 6:15 p.m. May 24, Edenton Police responded to a report of xxx concealing a handgun without a permit at McDonalds, 310 Virginia Road, Edenton. According to the report, at 1 p.m. that day, Samej Miller, 22, of Creek Court North, Edenton,
at 7:27 p.m. May 24, Edenton Police arrested and charged Corey Harrell Jr., 26, of Peterson Street, Edenton, with urinating in public, a misdemeanor charge, on Water Street. According to the incident report, at 7:10 p.m. that day, Harrell urinated at Queen Anne Park (Elizabeth Van Moore Park), at 210 E. Water Street, Edenton. The site does not have any restrooms. A secured bond if $1,500 was set.
At 3:23 p.m. May 26, Edenton Police arrested Roger Oliver, 42, of Tip Toe Road, Edenton, on two felony charged of felony conspiracy and a misdemeanor charge of conspiracy. A secured bond of $25,000 was set. He, along with Anthony Rowlen, 35, of Dogwood Drive, Edenton, were arrested on Court Street. Rowlen was arrested at 3:30 p.m. the same day and charged with two felony counts of felony conspiracy. Rowlen’s secure bons was set at $25,000.
At 1:42 p.m. May 26, Shaquean Nixon, 30, of Cabarrus Street, Edenton, was taken into custody at the Chowan Regional Jail, Court Street, and charged with two felony counts of felony conspiracy, a misdemeanor charge of conspiracy and a misdemeanor charge of injury to real property. A secured bond of $30,000 was set.
At 2:44 p.m. May 26, Arkey Sutton, 39, of Oakum Street, Edenton, was taken into custody on Court Street and charged with two felony counts of conspiracy and one misdemeanor charge of conspiracy. A secured bond of $25,000 was set.
