EDENTON — A “No Kings” rally will take place Saturday in Edenton.

According to the widely circulated No Kings flyer on social media, this will be a “A peaceful rally — Denounce Autocracy, Denounce Corruption, Promote Equality, Champion the Power of the People.”

The event will take place between 8:30ish and 11 a.m. Saturday by the bronze statue of the Cypress tree at the tip of South Broad Street, in close proximity to the Confederate Memorial. Rally is open to everyone, whether you wear a blue hat or a MAGA hat.

If that’s not enough for some folks, there will be a No Kings protest between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Park next to Camden Bridge. The Albemarle Observer is not aware of other rallies in our area, though you can probably count on one in Greenville.

And I’ll say it again – don’t let the mainstream media or the talking heads, many of whom are morons, pit Americans against each other – we have far more in common with one another than we do disagreements.

According to Google’s definition, not mine, “No Kings” day refers to a nationwide day of protest organized to defy policies of the Trump administration, specifically focusing on issues like federal immigration raids, authoritarianism, and militarization. Saturday’s protests are part of a broader movement against the president’s actions. Organizers aim to mobilize millions across all 50 states and commonwealths, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. The protests are also a response to the president’s deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles to quell protests against immigration raids, according to The Guardian.

Or Google the phrase “Color Revolution” to learn more.

Calling all Patriots — folks will come together around 8 a.m. Saturday at the corner of S. Broad and Water streets to celebrate Flag Day and the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US Army, also President Trump’s birthday.

Flag Day is a holiday celebrated on June 14 in the United States. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The Flag Resolution stated “That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

Happy birthday to the U.S. Army that’ll be turning 250 years young on Saturday — there will be events throughout the month of June in honor of its founding on June 14, 1775. The celebration will culminate with the national birthday celebration on June 14 in Washington, D.C.

And this will probably trigger some folks — President Trump will be turning 79 years old on Saturday — happy birthday!

As usual the “No Kings” protesters, who also protest other things, showed their poor taste with images of the President portraying him as another Hitler. I suggest they go to a store and buy themselves a pacifier.
