Rather than paying for an expensive obituary in a local media outlet — and then getting billed again to purchase a legal ad for the estate in that same newspaper — here is a FREE listing of local obituaries. We publish the weekly obit report late Saturday/early Sunday.

LAST NOTE: Since publishing obituaries is slowly becoming a forgotten art because of poor management practices by greedy mainstream media outlets, let me explain why publishing obituaries is important. First, obituaries notify the community that a person has died, when that loved one has died, where the funeral will be, and who the family is. Moreover, family members and perhaps local historians rely on obituaries to compile genealogy – build a family tree.
All this provides a nice chapter of local history – that’s why local newspapers are important. Without local newspapers, online or otherwise, we can no longer record our present and future – more or less ceasing to exist because newspapers are the first draft of history, sometimes the only draft in rural areas.
