Local cancellations/postponements and delays due to the Winter Storm Warning for Jan. 21-22, 2025:
- College of the Albemarle is closing campuses at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. They’ll be closed Wednesday.
- Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Schools will have a remote learning day on Wednesday.
- The Chowan County Board of Commissioners meeting for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, has been cancelled. The next regular scheduled meeting of the Board of Commissioners will be at 6 p.m. February 3, 2025.
- Though the Chowan County Board of Commissioners was invited to observe a work session of the Edenton-Chowan Board of Education on Wednesday, January 22, that meeting has been canceled.
- All Edenton-Chowan Schools after-school activities for Tuesday have been canceled. Students in PreK-8th grade will have a remote learning day on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
- Chowan County Offices will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 22. Offices will open at 10 a.m.
- Perquimans County offices will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
- The Albemarle Commission in Hertford and NCWorks Career Center in Elizabeth City will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
- All Perquimans County Schools will transition to remote learning Wednesday, Jan. 22. Schools will communicate the specific remote learning expectations for students, including any necessary materials or assignments. If your child does not have reliable internet access or 24-hour Chromebook use, paper packets will be provided. Please contact your child’s school if you need additional assistance. Additionally, all after-school activities scheduled out of the district are canceled for Tuesday. On-campus activities and practices may continue as long as they do not extend past 6 p.m.. The district has not made any decisions regarding school for Thursday or Friday at this time. However, we encourage families to be prepared for remote learning for the remainder of the week if necessary.
