The Chowan County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting in closed session prior to its regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 6, at the Public Safety Building, 305 W. Freemason St., Edenton.

According to the meetings’ agendas, the special meeting will held in regards to economic development and contract negotiations. The meeting is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.

The regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Among the highlights of the agenda include:

  • Approve a request for a change order being presented by contractor MB Khan for the technology package for the new John A. Holmes High School. The Edenton-Chowan Board of Education approved such a change order at its December meeting.
  • Hear the annual report from Elections Director Kristi Nixon.
  • Formally approve the purchase of R/O Plant Test Well Sites at 619 Poplar Neck Road ($33,281.64), 301 Poplar Neck Road ($28,673.93) and 627 Haughton Road ($161,455.62).
  • Approve various board appointments.
