First column of 2025 — A round-up of all things Chowan County…
Welcome to the world, Sylvanas West!
Born at 12:27 a.m. Jan. 1 at ECU Health Chowan Hospital, Sylvanas is the first baby born in 2025! She weighed in at 5 pounds, 12.7 ounces and 19.5 inches long. Parents, Brittany and Brian West of Edenton, were all smiles and proudly accepted the first baby of the new year basket, a long-standing tradition here at ECU Health Chowan Hospital.
ECU Health Chowan Hospital acknowledged and thanked the wonderful Edenton merchants who participated in its annual Baby of the New Year basket, by donating items to be given to Sylvanas and her parents, including: Blount’s Mutual Drug, Penelope Barker House Welcome Center, Surf, Wind and Fire – Edenton, Edenton Coffee House Bakery & Cafe, Waterman’s Grill, and The Herringbone, as well as our own Perfect Prescription Gift Shop and the Birthing Center at ECU Health Chowan Hospital.
GRAND OPENING — Emilio’s has officially reopened – great food and service! Go to 1122 A North Broad Street, Edenton. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Sunday. The grand re-opening is being held on Jan. 2.
In other news, Chowan Animal Hospital is growing. Lots of construction work going on there – great place to get your pets looked at, healthy and happy.
More news to come as 2025 unfolds.
