Edenton Town Council will discuss several purchases and grants at its next meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 12 in council chambers, 504 S. Broad St., Edenton.

The meeting will also be available for viewing via Zoom at meeting ID: 252 482 2155 Passcode: 458434.

The agenda includes several items. These include financing proposals and budget resolutions for an electric digger truck. They also include an electric bucket truck. The town plans to purchase a 2025 Freightliner truck for $368,143. Edenton received RFP’s (Requests for Proposals) from Southern Bank and Truist Bank. The council packet indicates the town will go with Truist’s RFP, which is a five-year loan with a 4.1% interest rate, for a total payback of $414,682.11. Southern Bank’s proposal had a 5-year loan term at 5.25% interest rate with a total payback of $426,146.70.

The town also plans to purchase a 2025 Optima Bucket Truck for $305,825. Both Southern Bank and Truist Bank submitted proposals. Southern Bank’s proposal is a five-year loan with a 5.25% interest rate, with a total payback of $354,010.03. Truist’s proposal is a five-year loan with a 4.12% interest rate, with a total payback of $344,679.54.

The council packet, includes resolutions accepting Truist’s proposals for both vehicles.

Also, town council will vote to accept a $391,437 grant for the Morgan Park Accessibility Project. The NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund grant requires a $97,859 local government match.

Also during the meeting, council is expected to meet in closed session to discuss employment of a future town employee.
