Edenton Police issued the arrest report for Charles Owen Babb, 23, of Tip Toe Road, Edenton. As we all know, Babb was the inmate who recently escaped from the Chowan County Detention Center.
But here’s some more news about Babb’s case — new charges, no bond (no surprise there), and he is back, maybe staying in his old bunk at the Chowan County Detention Center. Since Babb left his shoes at the Steinburg residence during his escape, maybe he has been issued a new pair of orange flip-flops, paid for courtesy of the county taxpayers.

Recap — Edenton Police arrested Babb at 7:45 a.m. Dec. 8 on Granville Street after breaking and entering the garage and vehicle of Bob and Marie Steinburg of Granville Street, Edenton, and stealing a blanket.
In relation to the incidents that occurred during his escape, Babb was charged with:
- breaking and entering, a felony
- breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, a felony
- larceny after breaking and entering, a felony
- possession of stolen goods, a felony
The Magistrate did not set bond and Babb was again confined to the Chowan County Detention Center.
